Residence "Révérence" in the Bigouden Region (Pont l'Abbé, 29)
Organized by the LABalade association in collaboration with Manon Rico (Poetry and Performance, Montpellier), this residency explores the profound themes of collective mourning and celebration in the face of ecological loss.
“How do we turn mourning into a celebration? Not the individual grief, which is already deeply painful, but collective mourning. We speak of the loss of countless animal species, shattered flora, and the awareness of our own finitude. The role of the artist, especially that of the poet, is perhaps to find a way to witness this mourning. To act as an alchemist, to sublime all this pain. To make death palatable by celebrating it. How do we take our bow? How can we make our words a joyous ceremony, a tribute to those who are absent? Our creation addresses the issue of species extinction and how we can testify to this extinction. Our wish is to invent a joyful ceremony, a cathartic ritual where symbols, practices, and sharing are key to reinvesting in our collective poetic heritage. We, humans.” [Excerpt from the presentation dossier]
